Quality Education

We need an education system that allows young people to compete for better paying jobs.  This can be accomplished through school choice and a greater emphasis on math, science, and history instruction; and an English immersion program for foreign speaking students.  These are the tools necessary to assure success in the work force and allow the individual the opportunity to achieve the American Dream.  It’s time to raise the bar on education by making teaching a true profession with regard to salary, measuring progress, and involving parents from the beginning of the children’s school years.

Veterans’ Benefits

As the wife of a retired career Air Force officer, I am very aware how important it is to support our military personnel, both active duty and retired.  We must assure that they receive appropriate medical attention.  Veteran’s hospitals must provide the best care and services for our veterans who have sacrificed so much for us.

I will work for and support businesses that hire physically challenged veterans who can be  productive in the work force if given the opportunity.  Tax break incentives should be offered to businesses that support this initiative.  These patriots should not only be dependent on government assistance but also be given the opportunity to be productive as valuable working individuals.

Law Enforcement

I support the efforts of our police force and border security agencies.   Violators of our laws must be punished.  Instead of only jail time, I would support more supervised community service projects for non-violent offenders.  This would benefit our communities by providing free labor for public works and projects.  The program that Sheriff Joe Arpaio oversees in Maricopa County could be expanded to southern Arizona.  The “catch and release system” for violators who cross our borders illegally does not solve the problem.  Instead these violators could be detained in low cost portable facilities.   One of the areas in which they could immediately be put to work would be in cleaning up the trash that has defaced and polluted our desert.
